FAQ’S -Frequently Asked Questions for the Netherlands Visa in UK

  1. Am I required to be present in person or can I send the application to the Netherlands Visa Application Centre?

All applicants are first required to book an appointment and be present at the date and time of the Netherlands visa application, including children/infants

  1. What if I do not possess all the required documents?

If your application is not accompanied by the documents that are required by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, you will be asked if you wish to proceed with the application as it is, i.e. without all the required documents. Should you consent to this, your application will be registered in our system and accepted for visa application submission, but incomplete applications always lead to processing delays. Considering that you have all the relevant information to submit a file which will allow the necessary verification and evaluations, the lodging of an incomplete file may lead to a refusal to issue the Netherlands visa.

  1. Will I get my Netherlands visa at the end of the process?

The Netherlands Visa Application Centre does not guarantee a visa upon application. The issuance or refusal of a visa is at the sole discretion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  1. What is the processing time for a Netherlands Visa application?

The minimum processing time for a Schengen visa is 14 calendar days. Please see Processing Time page for more information.

  1. What is the minimum duration of validity of travel documents that can be accepted?

The travel document i.e. most likely passport submitted should be valid three months after the last intended date of departure from the Schengen country for both single and multiple-entry visa.

  1. What should I provide as proof of relationship for my spouse’s nationality?

Photocopies of your Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate are the only documents that will be accepted as proof of relationship. Photocopies of your spouse’s national passport can be accepted as proof of nationality.

  1. What qualifies as adequate travel insurance?

A travel insurance policy (issued in the UK) should cover medical expenses for a minimum amount of EURO 30,000 that also covers emergency hospital treatment and repatriation.

  1. If I have received visas in the past, do I have to submit a full set of documents when applying for a new visa for another trip?

Yes, every new application is treated as fresh and you are required to present all the necessary documents again.
